Key Facts
No. Turbines: 8
Generating Capacity: 16MW
The scheme will offset carbon emissions by an estimated 48,500 tonnes per year or 1.2m tonnes over the life of the turbines.
Average annual energy usage
- Working Couple - 4,117 kWh electricity
- Single Person - 3,084 kWh electricity
- Family with two children (Parents working, children at school) - 5,480 kWh electricity
Source - University of Strathclyde
With an average wind speed of approximately 6.5 m/s the turbine can operate at between 25% and 30% of the rated capacity. This is not a measure of their efficiency but the % output of their capacity when compared to operating in a near permanent gale. (See Wind Works)
